Creating a folder of My Patterns

Creating a folder of My Patterns

Postby Angel135612 » May 13th, 2013, 1:32 pm

So I have been playing around with adding my digital papers to my shapes in SCAL, and I am enjoying it. However, I am tired of having to navigate through my harddrive to find all my digital papers. I see in the SCAL program that there is a folder for "My Patterns" but when I put copies of my jpegs in there, they do not show up. It would be great to be able to just go to that folder, and find the papers I want, instead of having to Load Image with every project.

Does any one know how to add images to My Patterns or My Favorites, so that I don't have to keep loading my digital papers every time I want to use one?? Thanks so much for any help. The more I use this software the better I like it.

It would be great if Brandon could add the Conical wrap feature like MTC has. I spent most of yesterday trying to figure out how to do what I wanted to do with that, and finally got it, but would love to have that in SCAL.

I also figured out, that if you have a design in MTC, and want to use it in SCAL, if you export the SVG it doesn't come in at the same size. BUT if you export to Vector PDF from MTC, it will import into SCAL at the same size.

Thanks for the tip on importing files from MTC, I do this often, and had been resizing them manually. I don't know how to put things in the "my patterns" folder.

Diane, I "think" you have to do it in your files section on your PC...pretty sure that's how I did it with the couple that I have in there...

The obvious way is the way I can add to the Craft Edge Folder in the appropriate folder in my Documents Folder.....but that didn't work.....That is a VERY good question to pose to Brandon...cause I did a search in the help topics and on the video tutorials he's done and there is nothing there for the Patterns...

the way I have done it so far:

open a shape - fill with pattern - save as scut file to user>my documents>craftedge>projects>

now I'm going to see if I can just save a pattern to the pattern folder...BRB
:banghead: NOPE they are in the folder on my hard drive (did jpeg, png & bmp) but won't show up in my Pattern folder on the worktop...yep, we definitely need to talk to Brandon about how to do this...

I got the same thing, I could add the jpegs to my folder, but they don't show up in SCAL. I guess if I had them all in one folder, then I could just navigate to that folder, but it would be better to just see them in the program like the ones that are preloaded.

I really need to work on organizing my files, but just can't sit at my computer long enough to do it... but then it would take me months, if not years to get all my files organized... LOL

Some one on the SCAL forum responded to my querry there, and has a written tutorial on her blog... the link here.. http://creationsbypapasue.blogspot.com/ ... -ecal.html

I haven't had time to read it yet or try it, but at least there is something out there.

Okay, I just went through the tutorial, and it works like a charm.
As she said at the beginning of her tut, you USED to be able to just drag a file to your My Patterns folder, and it would open, but it doesn't do that in SCAL 3. But it was easy enough to add them, once you know how.

It would be great if Brandon would add that to his help section of the program, as I looked there before I posted my question and couldn't find anything about it.
