Inkscape Settings

Inkscape Settings

Postby Angel135612 » June 18th, 2011, 9:42 am

I have looked for tutorials and through the program to change my settings in Inkscape, and I can't figure this out. I have looked all through the Preferences and couldn't find it...

Is there a way to save your settings so that every time it opens, it opens showing inches, instead of px for size?? And to change the size of the document that opens as default? I know you can change the document properties, but I would like them to stick so that every time I open Inkscape I get the same thing. And I just learned that if I use New and import, instead of Open, I can select the size document I want.. but that doesn't change the px to in in the size boxes. I am still getting use to the fact that every time I open something, it opens in a new window, instead of a new tab like AI... (I guess I'm just used to AI that I want Inkscape to be similar).

Yes, set your doc up how you want it. Then open the document properties and change the units of measurement to those you want. It must be the default units you change in the properties. Then save the template to the templates folder asa default.svg.
That folder is on your c drive/program files/Inkscape/share/templates

Thanks Dawn, got the unit of measurement to save. Is it possible to set the lock to ratio so it's always locked when you do a new document?

Thanks Dawn.. that worked. Now I'm going to work on Penny's Tut on using a digi stamp and getting a shadow layer to cut it out.
