Inkscape Question-stray lines when doing eggbot

Inkscape Question-stray lines when doing eggbot

Postby kim » April 29th, 2013, 9:17 pm

Okay, this is what I did in Inkscape....I did Object to Path, then Object Ungroup, then Path Union. I then did the eggbot extension, hatch fill at 45 degrees and 2 spacing. I am getting stray lines. Is there a way to get rid of these? I'm not great at Inkscape....pretty much a novice. LOL.

Kim, if you click on the line itself it will highlight the end nodes of where it attaches and you can click delete...it should disappear ;)

Sometimes when using the eggbot extension to create a fill, you will get some lines that go where they shouldn't. The only way to get rid of them is to zoom way in, and using the node editing tool either move the end node to the line it should be at, or delete it. Be careful when you delete, as you could delete the whole line, and you will have a space in your design from that line not being there.

Always zoom in when deleting the lines because there are times it will make a blank space and at times it shows in the final work. some times breaking the file up and doing it by sections if possible will help in avoiding some of the stray lines. sometimes you'll have to add a node at the point you want it to avoid the blank spots the delete the extra.

I got the file, through some trial and error, to get rid of the stray lines, but keep the lines that I wanted. THANK GOODNESS FOR UNDO.....I used it a lot!!!! SInce this computer does not have SCAL on it, I imported into MTC and MTC still shows the stray lines. I will be getting on my other computer that has SCAL and see if SCAL shows the stray lines.

Okay, I'm a little confused. I deleted the stray line segments. Inkscape didn't show them anymore and when I imported into SCAL, they didn't show up. When I went to engrave, it shows up. Sooooo, because I am more familiar with MTC, I imported into MTC. The lines show up. Since I deleted the lines in Inkscape and they don't show up, shouldn't it not "cut"?

Go to view/display mode/outline in Inkscape.
If they are there you will see them now
