New problem with Inkscape

I do most of my work in Inscape, (0.48) but am admittedly still a novice.
I very often export images I have made in Inkscape, tags for instance, as bitmpas.
The last 2 days, whenever I select an image and select export as bitmap, the program instantly locks up. This has never happened before, and I am clueless as to why it is now.
Any of you computer whizzes (I am so in awe :) ) have any suggestions/ideas for me?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Denise, you need to tell us which operating system you are using, as well. I'm not a computer whiz...but I do know "those that are" will need to know this. ;)

Oh Denise I wish I could help you sweetie....The past couple days I've been having my own struggles with Inkscape....seems everytime I do a hatch fill if it's too indepth it crashes on me too....SOOOOOO frustrating isn't it.......I had purchased Corel Draw X5 last year but never took the time to learn it...but this forced me to learn it because I kept repeating the same things over and over cause it kept crashing.......so far I am loving Corel Draw X5 and can see myself using this more then Inkscape........The only thing I can suggest is to see if they have a new update available....the latest one out is 48.4.1 .... (I know you have 48.....but wasn't sure if you have the latest 48.xxxx) http://inkscape.org/download/?lang=en

Thanks Penny.
How do I install the new one? Do I need to "uninstall" the old first?
If so, how do I do that?
Sorry, but not so good with computers here. I just know how to use my programs. Hubby takes care of the rest...
Thanks for the suggestions, and good luck with your project. I know it will be awesome!

Hey girl...I just uninstall the old one then install the new one......to check to see which version you have you can click on the HELP button on the top toolbar....then select About Inkscape.....when it opens look in the upper right corner of the window that pops up...it will tell you which version you've got installed......if it's the latest version already then I'm at a loss.... ;(
