I think my Inkscape isn't working

I've noticed that when I’m working in Inkscape and I follow specific directions on how to do something, lots of times, it doesn’t work. Right now, I’m trying to use the difference path with 2 objects, and it won’t work. I think it’s a program problem. Here’s my question. If I download the latest version (I think it’s .48), will it still export to Signcut? I really think I need to re-install Inkscape. I’m frustrated.

Version 0.48 dies not export to Signcut very well, you are much better to stay with version 0.47

Thanks, Dawn. Is there a way I can re-install .47?

Here is a link to Inkscape .47 http://www.afterdawn.com/software/deskt ... .cfm/v0_47

I know Penny was using the .48 version (I think it was her) successfully and so was I - and then it quit exporting and crashed both programs! So will be going back to .47, but try to use SCAL most of the time - some things still seem "easier" in Inkscape, but SCAL is gaining as Brandon continues to improve it!

Hope this helps.

I absolutely LOVE SCAL. I have been using it for several years, as far back as when one could buy it to use with the "bug" machine. Even though I don’t know Inkscape well, there are still some designs that are easier for me to do than in SCAL. However, I’m super excited that SCAL is improving in its capabilities!

Uh, oh, Gigi. I installed Inkscape (and uninstalled the old version), and now I don't have an export option under extensions for Signcut. Ideas?

Tami, You can go here and download the plugin to export from Inkscape to Signcut... just find the one you need. It says it should have installed it automatically, but if not, they are on this page.

OK, Angel. I am not the brightest bulb in the pack where plugins and downloads are concerned. Here's what's on the page when I bring up the link you gave me. It says additional plugins are available, but I can't find one specifically for Inkscape. Here's what I see:

1.00(Stable)

Additional plugins for Adobe Illustrator, CorelDraw and Inkscape.

These plug-ins are automatically installed on Windows during the normal installation but in case it would fail to find the correct path they are available here for manual installation.
Adobe Illustrator CS1 -> CS4 for Windows

Adobe Illustrator CS2 -> CS4 for Mac

I actually just uninstalled the newer version since it stopped working, reinstalled.47 and it exports to SignCut and the export is there. Dawn usually says if the export doesnt appear to reinstall signcut over itself. I have the exe file that I would be happy to send you. It's 19 mb so can't email it but can share it through google if that would help - or whatever you want. LMK.

Yes...I do use .48 of Inkscape and have no problems at all exporting to either SCAL......does seem like your program is fighting with another program some how......

One of the problems that drives people crazy with .48, it works for some and not others. It is hard to say why. But I have seen people install it and not have a problem, others it is just a nightmare.
