Inkscape work around for single line font!

Inkscape work around for single line font!

Postby riogirl71 » May 3rd, 2012, 3:50 pm

Ok so this has been driving me crazy cause I want to be able to write with my pen holder and I don't have Corel or MTC. I wanted something simple and single line. So here is what I did, I know it is a lot of steps but it worked well for me.

1- open inkscape and typed whatever phrase you want in the font you want, i used Adios font
2- export selection as a png (i used 400 resolution)
3- go to http://www.roitsystems.com/cgi-bin/autotrace/tracer.pl
4- upload your png and click the box "trace font centerline"
5- click at bottom to retrieve and save as svg
6 - open on inkscape
7- edit nodes to your liking

This is by no means perfect, play with your settings and fonts, edit nodes, it does give you a close starting point if you want a single stroke word!
