Adobe CS6

Postby Suzan » May 2nd, 2012, 12:38 am

Ok I have just spent a major part of the evening checking out the new Illustrator. OMGoodness. I can't believe what it will be doing. I had told Bryan when he downloaded the beta of photoshop I didn't want to hear anything, I am just grasping all the stuff in CS5. The new illustrator is so user friendly it is unbelieveable. It has a completely new tracing feature, that will actually trace a photograph and it will still look like a photograph. Plus all the other goodies. I can't believe I told him to pre-order it tomorrow. Thank goodness he gets the education discount which makes just outlandishly expensive vs unreachable exspensive. I know ink is free and a lot of people love Corel. But this new version I think is wow.

Stop it, you're killing me!

. . . yesterday I was really happy when I learned I could upgrade my PC version of CS3 to Mac version CS6 — that was before Adobe was unable to decode my serial # & I was given the awful news that my copy wasn't legit! All these years I've been unaware as it registered correctly when first installed (apparently this happens one time only!) A hard lesson learned — to buy direct from the manufacturer & not a software vendor. Now if I want CS I have to buy the full version again & at $1,600 that is not going to happen . . .

I downloaded the trial but when I went to purchase and saw the price, that was it for me. Too much money for something that I probably would not use that much. I went with Corel instead....as I found the trial a lot more user friendly.

Bryan can get the educators version for around 350. Now I wouldn't buy it just for me. He uses it at work and home so it makes it bearable. I can see if he can get more than one license at that price if anyone is interested.

Suzan,
Is the educators version for just Illustrator? I LOVE and use most all the products. Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, InDesign, Premier and Encore. I know Flash is going away but I have been using all these products for 10+ years. Right now I use CS5 and don't think I can afford even an upgrade after my Black Cat purchase. LOL just still trying to learn the basics of all this wonderful cat can do and I feel like such a dunce on trying to get things made with it. I am finding you guys are all so helpful in the cutting issues I am having. The paper niks and blade dragging and all. Anyway I feel like an experienced newbie.. lol..

Nope it is the whole suite. Bryan thinks it will definately be under 400.00. You can't upgrade the educators version it is a purchase of the whole suite. He is calling his Adobe guy, and will let me know when he gets the price. I was so excited watching what it could do. You can actually download photoshop six beta. He says that is awesome also.

He also told me if we get 25 purchases the cost will go down even more.

the cost of the license is one of the reasons why I keep my license intact by purchasing the upgrade versions. I make it my policy to upgrade every other version (ie to skip one cycle). Currently I am on CS4 photoshop, so now with CS6 out, I'm due for an upgrade. So far, from what I have seen of CS6, it is just WOWSERS! The content aware stuff is just amazing. I'm doing this - even though I haven't had a serious shoot in quite awhile, as I really have to keep that license going. Once you get the initial license, the upgrades (if it isn't the suite thing) is not bad.

The full suite here would cost over $4,000!

IF you go to labs.adobe.com. you can download the beta of Photoshop 6 free. It is wowsers. I played with it last night. Also at adobe .com watch the videos of just the little bit they share on what is new. Bryan doesn't actually buy from adobe. He buys from another educator place so the price will be super low. I will keep you all updated if you are interested.

Suzan,
We downloaded the beta version yesterday and WOW it's neat. But beware .... we did receive 3 telephone calls from adobe systems yesterday wanting to know when we were going to place an order.. lol.. since we have been registered owners of adobe / macromedia products for over 12 years, they had our phone number...

Funny we haven't gotten any phone calls. Bryan also told me last night rumor has it is you own CS5.5 the 6 upgrade should be free. Of course we didn't do that but if it is cheaper that way than education discount we personally might go that way. Still waiting on the information. I am like a little kid waiting for Christmas.

According to Bryan, if you have the 5.5 upgrade you should get the 6 for free. It is an Adobe thing, not the other place he buys. So we are also getting quotes for 5.5 upgrade or purchase then the free 6 upgrade.

Well Dana the only reason I even get it is because Bryan uses it for work and they will pay part of it. Other than that I would be out in the cold. LOL

WOW! I just got the beta of Photoshop and Illustrator and all I can say is WOW...
My husband found some really great videos showing how to use all the cool new features. I don't know if it is new but the wrinkle tool in Illustrator is so much fun on edges.
