Installing a font into Inkscape? Fixed!

How do I install a font I have downloaded into Inkscape and MTC? It is on my desktop and I am using a Mac.
I tried putting it into my Mac font book but it puts it into my own section so I am not sure how I use those either. I know I have done this before but I have been trying for hours. Staring at my screen for so long I have a big headache. It can't be this hard. Please help?

Lol Tyler, I am not. I design in Inkscape on my Mac then I transfer to a windows computer to use MTC. Also to make any changes I want to make in MTC. I cut on my windows computer too in Signcut or MTC.

In the Mac font book it will install to "user" (you) unless you direct it to "computer" or elsewhere.
It will open correctly in Inkscape from there so you shouldn't have a problem.

It has installed to me in my Mac font book. It isn't showing on Inkscape. None of the ones that have saved to me are showing in the main Mac book or Inkscape.

There is a main font book on my Mac. Any fonts I bring in it puts in a section of its own meaning mine in the Mac font book. It doesn't put them in the main Mac font book. I am not sure how I get to them or use them. The one I am trying to use I have also saved to my desktop. I tried drag and drop into the main Mac font book but it just goes into my section.
I have a feeling whenever I have put fonts in before it has been on a Windows computer. Just when I think I speak Mac it gets me again. Do you know of anyway I can take it from my desktop to Inkscape?

Ummm, wish I could help. I don't use Inkscape but mine immediately install and are visible in all Mac programs but if I want it to show in a Windows program (I have Bootcamp loaded on my Mac) then I have to download it again using Windows. I don't know if all fonts have both versions but I have to download on both systems. I'm no expert so someone else might have a better solution, just thought I would throw in my experiences.

It is fixed and all done. I turned my computer off last night and when I turned it on this morning it was in there. Duh, I just needed to restart my computer a step I often forget. I am a right now person and my computer is lucky if I give it gets permission for updates if I am using it. Thank you.
