I finally did some playing around today with Inkscape. I created a file for PNC. The first time I tried printing (I have a hp 8500 office jet printer)..it didn't come out right only a partial print. Ever since then I click on print, and it sends something...my printer makes a noise..but doesn't print anything. It doesn't matter what type of file I have made. My DH has tried printing from inkscape on his computer too, with no luck. Hopefully someone can help me :0). I just realized too that sign cut wouldn't work with the later version of inkscape..so uninstalled it etc and downloaded the one that works with sign cut. So I know it will export now to sign cut, but no printing. Through all of this the image that I originally had has become something all together different in every inkscape file that I have. I have had lots of issues with Silhouette studio doing this in the past, but it would not do it to all my files with that image in it.
If you think it is just my printer...um...anyone know of a great 12 by 12 printer (I have been wanting one)..that is laser (so I can set myself up for that foil machine)..just between us...don't tell the DH :0) Thanks again Heather
I have printed from Inkscape to both my laser and inkjet printers so am wondering if it is your printer or a setting that is off?? Do you happen to have another printer that you can try to print to - maybe your husband can try it at work to see if it will print on something else? I have never had a problem so not even sure what to tell you to trouble shoot the problem. Thinking.......
My DH is a techy guy...and he thinks it must be something up with the printer.
I will have him try it at work. Even though the image has been replace with something else...LOL. My pretty blue digi paper is no longer there....some weird image in it's place. Thanks though :0)
I know there are ocassionally problems printing from Inkscape - for which there are work arounds, but I have never heard of one image being reolaced by another!
For it to print something different it must have been in the Printers memory. Sometimes if you cancel and don't wait for it to happen it can stay there. Barbaras
I have turned off the printer and turned it back on etc. I will just have my DH check our printer settings see if there is something in there :0).
I think what happens is the image dissappears and it is just replace with a really large error message or something. Here is one of the files I was talking about. Maybe it will be okay for you..but for me the original image is gone. I used the same digi paper that I used on my cards...the blue one with little flowers.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Do you think the reason it doesn't show up when I open Inkscape is because I created it in the newer version, but then deleted that version to get the .7 version that works with the sign cut? I know nothing about inkscape
It is because it isn't a vector file. It is a picture. You can put them in the program but they have to be embedded and what I like to do is put them in a seperate layer so I can turn them off. They are not cuttable as they are.
I had it in a separate layer...so that I when I had the eye on...they could print...but that is where my issue began, and couldn't export to signcut (but that had to do with I had the latest version of inkscape so went back to one that did work). I had the eye off and the cut layer on. When I post the file here Thyme...is able to open it and it is fine, but when I open it in my own inkscape...I get the photo up above.
My DH is really puzzled too :0) I will admit my DH has uninstalled reinstalled...did a reboot...all that techy stuff...He has inkscape on his computer and it won't print either...neither will either of my boys computers...or any of our laptops...so it has to be something with the printer. When someone is our house figures it out...I will for sure let you all know what it was :0) BTW...when you open the file I have above does it print out okay? It would be nice to know that at least I am on the right track even if my printer doesn't want to play right...LOL. Thank you :0)
I'll have to check whether it actually prints in the morning - no printer on this computer. But here is something for you to try Go to File/Export bitmap Export at 300 dpi then open the file you exported in an image editing program and see what you have
Okay...thanks :0) I will try that out :0) BTW..what is the time where you are now...just so I have an idea :0) It is 6:52 pm Jan 20 ...I am so kind of slow...LOL when it come to the time thing. I would love to see England :0) hugs...thanks for your help Heather
