COREL DRAW EXPERTS NEEDED

COREL DRAW EXPERTS NEEDED

Postby allandra42 » December 29th, 2011, 9:08 pm

I have been working on wall art and I didnt have any trouble doing silhouettes and sending them to signcut and having them cut exactly the way I wanted. Then I wanted to do a simple shape (a heart) and send it to signcut and It would not show up in signcut there was just a blank page there. i tried to right click and trace but it wasnt a choice. What did I need to do with this simple shape to get it to cut? Lesa :banghead: :banghead:

I don't know Corel Draw - but were you sending it as an SVG file?? Is it a solid color - not transparent at all?

Hi,

You should be able to send directly from CorelDraw to Signcut. There is a plug-in which has to be installed, then the link shows up in the Application Launcher. You don't have to save as .svg, just send the graphic as it is.

If you don't have anything selected the whole graphic will export to Signcut, or you can select part, or parts, of the graphic and only the selection will be exported. I find this really useful.

Lesa -

I am a total novice in Corel Draw but love what I can do in it and am determined to use it for more in the coming year. Ducky is the expert and she is on vacation right now - but I remember getting an occasional file from her that wouldnt go to Signcut and it was a matter of selecting "convert to curves" - not sure what that does or why, but it has saved me on some occasions. See if that helps. I may be way off base, but it won't hurt anything!

Hang in there - we will figure it out!

I am so glad to hear that Lesa - Ducky (Ellen) will have the explanation as to why - I just remembered it working before when something had "curves"! So glad it worked!!

I am hoping I can finally master Corel Draw and use it for more the welding words and cutting premade files!!

Happy cutting! :D

It is similar to converting to path as in inkscape. Sometimes, the conversion may be lost in the transition. With a more complicated file, you're probably already working with the vector so there is no problem with it coming into signcut. With a simple shape though, you may be working with a shape that has different characteristics.

To make a long story short: best to make sure all lines are converted to curve in Corel draw ( or path in inkscape) before sending to SignCut.

I find it usually is the simple things that we tend to overlook that cause the most problems...lol
