She is like me and she will get through this. Like I said, it is not unexpected. But, nonetheless, you always have some hope of either a miracle "cure" or it stopping in its tracks and not progressing any further.

But, in the scheme of things, life is not perfect and we ALL have some trials and we have our blessings. I, for one, have more blessings than trials, so I really can't complain. Losing a child is so far worse than losing eyesight, at least it would be for me. So I count my blessings and pray for those less fortunate than me. Doesn't mean I don't want a miracle or something, but life doesn't end with losing eyesight, just your independence ends. In my case, I was told I would be blind by the time I was 30....I am 51 and still driving and doing most everything I want. And mine is not progressing. My friend is pretty much in the same situation. I hurt for her like you wouldn't believe, but I know her character and she won't let this get her down for too long. She just needs prayers to get her over this bump in the road.

Haha...it's not brave. It's accepting what you cannot change. And as I said, I have other blessings that compensate. I figure if I do lose my sight, it will be when I am really old....I've gotten this far. :D It is what it is and I don't dwell on it much. People who lose a limb, compensate and adapt. They don't think about it, they just do it. It is losing complete eyesight that I think will be difficult but my doctor is very upbeat about mine. I drive (not at night cause the headlights kill me), I snow ski, I craft, I do most of what I want to do....so I don't have a really difficult time of it. It's just that I know what my friend is going through because it hits close to home. And when I was 20 and newly married, that being told that I would be blind by the time I was 30 that I had a hard time. But, I'm not one to dwell too much on the things I can't do anything about and so I just went ahead and continued on with my life. The only thing I did do was give DH a way out and told him he could divorce me since we had just gotten married and he didn't sign up for this. He's been with me for 31 years now. Please believe me when I say I am okay with it. Would I change it if I could? YES. But there are SO MANY other things that are FAR MORE WORSE.
