Tumbler for my Sister

Tumbler for my Sister

Postby Angel135612 » July 22nd, 2011, 8:05 pm

I just finished making a tumbler for my sister who is a Math teacher. I put some hot fix rhinestones on the crown 3mm and 4mm. Hope they don't fall off.. LOL I got the tumbler at Michaels, they only had ONE clear tumbler and a number of blue and orange. The font I used was "I Hate Comic Sans" which was her choice. The crown came from LD Provincial Princess SVG set. I used transfer tape, but still had a problem getting the words on straight... I have a hard enough time on flat surfaces, but when they are curved, it's even worse... but it isn't too crooked... just hope she doesn't notice... LOL

I sent pictures to my sister, and she said she loves it, and all the other math teachers on her hall are going to be jealous.. LOL Now to find a box to put it in and get it ready to ship to her....

Well my sister got her tumbler today. (I'm sure the package was delivered last week, but she wasn't working at her school until today). She has already had a number of comments on it, and wants to know how much I'm going to sell them for, people have already asked.

I guess I should come up with some sort of pricing for them... but with her being in TX and me in CO... having to add shipping to the cost, I'm not sure if any one would want to pay that much. Although if my sister were willing to take orders, and then ship a number of them all at once, that could save on some cost. I got her tumbler at Michaels, but if I needed more, I may need to order online where I can get a better deal on a case. But then I may not be able to do colors. I just don't know if I can afford to buy a case, and then not sell many of them.

Diane, I live in Ohio and my sister lives in Georgia. She is a teacher too, and I am hoping to get some orders from her too. And that is what we thought also, to get a group order and then the shipping will be less. As far as pricing, I plan to charge $10 for a simple design and up to $15 for a more complicated design or one with many different colors of vinyl requiring layering. I have posted my sister's tumbler here too. Let me look and I will post the link for you.

She is a first grade teacher and starts back tomorrow.
Best of luck with your tumblers. Oh, and I think through today there is a tumbler share happening on the MTC forum. And you can get mixed colors, and the price is very good.

CeCe... I did see that share on the MTC forum, but I just can't afford to buy a case, if I don't know for sure I would be able to sell them. And when my sister says "people are asking" she may mean only one or two of her friends asked. I may talk to her about this, and if she wants to be responsible for taking orders, finding out what they want, and communicating that to me and getting a certain number of orders, then I MAY decide to do it. But knowing my sister, she wouldn't want to be responsible for all that, even if I gave her something for it.

I may sell tumblers if it were to people I work with, or people I see... but I just don't see doing it long distance.
