stained glass

OK I finished the image, doofus mistakes and all and I am attaching.

Even with all the errors - and there are many - I am very happy with this as a first effort. The cardstock layer and the acetate were cut with the cougar. The contact paper was cut with the silhouette, as I was so curious how that material would cut on the sil, that I decided to try it.

The colors in the photo came out somewhat darker, and doesn't look like it does in real life with the lightness of the colors to resemble stained glass. I had no time to play with the photo or re-take as my day has to get moving.

Doing this over I would definitely use either black vinyl or black contact paper. You can see the white outlines, I tried my best to cover. In addition, I have to get better at using the paint to make sure it goes all the way to the edges. I was afraid to do alot of paint, and I did get some seepage. I feel a better vinyl instead of contact paper and using the transfer tape (I still cannot believe I didn't use it) would have helped me do a better result. Granted, I did a very complex image for my first try. Hopefully I will get better.

Card is for my mom, who is not feeling well.

Pat

That turned out fabulous. I am still confused about what purpose the contact paper played. Did you use it as a mask to apply the paint to the acetate or was it incorporated into the design somehow? Whatever, it is beautiful.

Elsa -

contact paper was a mask to the reverse side, so I could apply the paint to the acetate. Penny - you're kidding right? Asking the doofus for a tut? Well, if I get better at this and more experienced, I will do one eventually......

I agree with Penny. I would love to see how you did it. If you do something and it turns out exceptionally well, and the proof is in the pudding on this one, you are certainly qualified to write a tutorial. I hope you do.

SAme here wanna know how you did it. We all have to start with tutorials somewhere. And I can't see any errors on this at all. And errors are good. You can tell us what NOT to do. Great job so very pretty.
