I work in a statewide emergency dispatch center as a supervisor. Last week the dispatchers on duty told me about a radio conversation taking place between two Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) workers (who we dispatch for among other things/agencies) and of course I had to go listen to it.
ITD person one (255) was asking ITD person two (212-10) where he was, 212-10 answered that he was at the shed (maintenance building) and then said there were a lot of bees in there...hundreds of them. 212-10 said "Are you guys making honey here or what? There are HUNDREDS of bees in here" to which 255 replied (without missing a beat) "Nope, those are trained guard bees, they keep the shed safe!" We were cracking up. A few minutes later, 255 asked 212-10 another question to which he said he would call him back in a second, when he got in the truck because the bees were all over him! Well, fortunately 212-10 wasn't stung. Knowing these two guys and their sense of humor I made a sign for the shed and a card for 212-10 (and sent him a jar of honey to use as bee bait -- put it some place far away from you so you can work and not be bothered). Now you can't tell in the pictures but I was able to make the bee on the inside of the card "springy" by using some beading wire that I coiled up and then used glue dots to attach to both the card base and the bee.
