An optical illusion... sort of!

I created this doilly design to be an optical illusion. That is: to look round rather than flat. It did look that way on the computer screen, but not so much after I cut it out.

The Silver Bullet cut it perfectly, even though some of the lines were hair thin! I used 65# paper from Michaels and cut at a speed of 500 and a pressure of 200... FYI. It was cut at 11 inches in diameter. The lines would be too thin to cut any smaller, I think.

That is very cool and I do think it has a round look to it.

I would love to see it cut smaller - I am always amazed at how well this machine cuts even the thinnest of pieces. A force of 200 seems really high for 65# paper - but maybe your blade is higher than mine! Regardless, the results are stunning! GREAT job!

iHi great results - beautiful cutting

can you tell me what size is the smallest aperture ?

would you consider have a look at the prospective buyer thread and see if you have any better results than mine have been ?
Just curious to see if it can be managed

I didn't really have any small apertures on that design, but the thinnest part of the web was one half millimeter. I did take a look at the thread you referenced and tried to cut that radar screen design. See my remarks and picture on the "prospective buyer" thread... :-)

Thanks for all your comments/compliments. :-) I've created another design, but haven't cut it out yet. Here's a pic...

I was finally able to cut that "radar screen" file that was posted on the "prospective buyer" thread in the GENERAL category. Take a look and see just how small that thing is!!! It's only 1/8" square. I cut it in black parchment paper that I bought at Michaels. One thing I had to do was to make the interior square just 0.002" smaller because the SB couldn't cut that ultra thin separation between the two boxes.

Thanks for taking the time to do that test cut! It is really tiny!
