Doily Success!

Here's my first attempt at an intricate design and I must say that it was a HUGE success! Monica Bjork had to do a lot of encourging to get me to try it. She actually cut it first after I sent her the file. She cut it on another brand of machine, so I figured that this new Silver Bullet sure ought to be able to do the same thing :-)

FYI: I used my FAVORITE mat for this project and that is the LightGrip mat by Cricut. It is so much easier to remove the design off of that mat and there hasn't been any problem with it not holding the paper.

Thanks for all your nice comments! I used to own a Pazzles Inspiration and got good at using their Inspiration Studio pro software, so that is the program I used for this design. I designed 1/4 of it and then joined the other 3/4. Unfortunately, my Pazzles was a "lemon", so using this Silver Bullet is a DREAM!

Yes, it definitely did a great job. If anyone is interested, I used 65# Recollections "essentials" paper from Michaels and that wonderful detail blade/holder from That's Scrap, Inc and a pressure of 120. Someday I'd like to try Worldwin papers :-)

I can tell you that WorldWin papers cut beautifully. I have a ton of them (of course I do!! LOL) from when Sherri used to sell them a decade or so ago, so it seems! They cut very well as all of the papers from Paper Temptress (see discount available under Associates). The Pop Tones papers are similar in weight to the WorldWin or Recollections.

That file is really breathtaking! Wish I could design like that!

That's what I'm learning, but nobody locally carries Worldwin papers that I know of... I'm in Mesa, AZ. Online shipping costs really raise the price on paper if I were to order online, but I may have to do that. Thank you and all who have commented favorably on that doily design. I'm really indebted to Monica Bjork for proving to me that it could be done. She has designed some really interesting intricate cutting files!

Yes her files are incredibly intricate and so much fun to cut. I love challenging the SB to cut them and it has never failed me.

I agree with you on the WorldWin - any paper is expensive to ship, but I love all of the shades of colors that WorldWin has. I am glad I stocked up when I could!!

Since there is free shipping on large orders, I wonder if you could get others in AZ to go in with you? Just a thought.......

Thanks again for the kind words!

Gigi, I thought about just doing a bulk type purchase of the Worldwin papers just for myself, but I probably wouldn't live long enought to use it all! :-)

I'm not much for socializing, but I enjoy seeing what all of you are making by visiting the various websites. Your talents are amazing!

Hello. Your doily is just lovely. Wow! You said that you like the WorldWin papers. I agree and wish that I could buy them locally too. I have seen a good selection listed on the Paper Mill Store website. I hope that helps you!

Gorgeous doily!!!! and the SB did a superb job cutting it.

LOL....Mesa is heaven to me in the way of stores. My DH is there alot, we have a condo in Mesa, and I keep trying to figure out where I want him to go shopping at for me.

Thanks again for the nice comments! As for "The Papermill Store"... I just received an email from them this morning. At one time they had free shipping with like $100 order (I think), so maybe I'll wait until they have that again and then order a bunch of different colors. From what I gather, most people seem to like "cutmates".

...as for Mesa stores: I'm in the Superstition Springs shopping area and we have the big three close by. That is Hobby Lobby, Michaels, and JoAnns and quite a few of them too! Everything is pretty much available here ...BUT NO WORLDWIN PAPERS!!!

I know I have ordered from Blue Moon Scrapbooking and they are in the Phoenix area, I believe. I ordered Tim Holtz stuff from them. I think I got my World Win from PaperMill ages ago. I have to do pretty much online shopping. I have a HL and Michaels, but they aren't very large.

I hadn't heard of Blue Moon Scrapbooking, so I checked their website and they don't show any worldwin papers on their site... and they offer free shipping for orders over $50... Darn! :-) thanks!
