Still fiddling with the handle. This box is 1.5" diam. The silver is sawn out of silver sheet, but could easily have been done with the Bullet and metal clay....I just LOVE sawing:)

Thx ladies! I'm having such fun...especially considering that there is $1 of paper in this box and about $5 silver, as opposed to the almost $100 of silver in my totally silver boxes. I've got lots more ideas. Loving my bullet:)

I am amazed at your work... to think they are made of paper!!! what do you use to coat them with to get that lovely shine.

Thx Retta and jobab:) Actually, that is a matte finish....for some reason it is showing as shiny....hmmmm. I've been experimenting with a huge variety of archival finishes and glues, from mod podge and beyond. I just did a blog post on my developments of this year, and have a link to the Silver Bullet. http://suemcnenly.com/blogs/news/125409 ... -this-year

For all of the silver bullet users....I know that many love to make cards (something I have never yet done), but remember to think outside of the box. I find that with my work, when I learn to make something new that seems unrelated to my typical work, it actually inspires me, and my work grows as a result.

Yes, Sue! Seeing your work is planting seeds of ideas in my head. I'm thinking about dimensional work in an entirely different way. Not sure when I'll have a chance to act on anything, but it's exciting to get creative jump starts now and again. Keep it coming!

LOL...ever since I got my Cougar and then my SB, I have been outside my box. LOL. I was a scrapbooker, but since getting these wonderful machines, I haven't done a single scrapbook page but have been playing around with everything else. My poor DS....his momma hasn't scrapbooked a single page for him in ages.

IKWYM Kim! I haven't scrap booked at all for a long time. My pages just kept getting more and more involved and stressful and the fun just went out of it. I think the pressure of making them worthy of keeping forever got to me. Cards get mailed off, and home décor items can be tossed when I get tired of them, but the albums have to be a forever thing.

Sue, Those boxes are amazing!!!!! I look forward to seeing what else you do with your Silver Bullet!!! I haven't stepped outside my box too much yet, but I'm getting back into my quilting, and want to start doing applique, so will be experimenting with the SB to cut out my fabric for that when I have time.
Thanks for sharing your work with us... I love seeing what every one does with their machines.

Angel, I have a friend who is considering the Bullet, and she would be using it for exactly what you are....appliques for quilts. I'll be following your progress...please post any insights you may have and results of your experiments with fabric.

Thx

I have recently gotten great cuts with my SB and 100% cotton calico. I backed the fabric with Pellon Wonder Under and used the 30 degree blade.

This morning, I cut some thin silky fabric by sandwiching it between two sheets of freezer paper. I still need to fine tune the settings, but the cuts were pretty clean. I don't really need to cut this, I just felt like experimenting a bit.

Great info, Elizabeth!! Glad you are experimenting - it helps all of us :)

I may have a new use for all of that freezer paper I have from when I made envelopes out of tissue paper!! :hide: :ROFLMBO:

Elizabeth did you use the extra sticky mat or just a regular mat?? I haven't figured out what I want to cut for appliqué yet but it will probably be easy shape to start with. I have to many projects I want to work on, and can't decide which one I want to start.

Angel135612 I don't have the extra sticky mat, but I did use a brand new mat, which was pretty sticky. I think the extra sticky mat would be helpful, especially if cutting enough fabric for a project. I was just testing for the fun of it.
