Latest job!

Postby MendyRap » September 15th, 2013, 9:59 pm

Here is the latest job I had! It was not the easiest but, I think I enjoyed it the most! I was sooooo excited when "Mom" contacted me and sent a photo. Makes me miss my "girlie" girl! She is all grown up now, but, I'm pretty sure this Mom will share here littles miracles to come! Sigh! Twins! I always wanted twins!

Thank you everyone! I loved how they turned out. The hardest part was layering the name on top! That brings up a question, those of you who do big wall decals how do you layer large projects like this? I only had a names so, I transferred the names to the background very carefully then I put the final transfer tape over the now layered project. Does that make sense? I didn't have transfer tape big enough to layer the traditional way. Anyway, it worked I just wondered if there was a trick I might have tried, maybe next time! ;)

WOW...just love it! I have a friend who's daughter is having twins. This might be something she would be interested in.

As for layering, I use registration marks also.

Mendy - beautiful and I just had to comment. I wouldn't wish twins on my worst enemy. I lived through it and believe me - NO ONE should want twins!!

I'm not kidding, photos of my husband and I from those days - we both had black circles around the eyes. My 2 didn't sleep for 8 months following birth. One night, no amount of the usual got them to sleep (we tried feeding them, burping, diaper, drove around in the car - swings everything). My husband and I were desperate. At the time we lived in a one room studio. So we put them in the car seats, sat them in the tub in the bathroom (only room with a door), and let them scream. Sigh, those were the days......)))::

Glad you all survived, Pat! My friends have twins who are now 17, and I well remember those early days when everything was doubly difficult.

I went through infertility treatments and DH told the doc that he wanted triplets. I told DH he wanted a new wife. :ROFLMBO: :ROFLMBO:

Mendy, I would love the file! I will have to show it to my friend to see if her daughter may want it for her twins.

Mendy, I always use registration marks. Just center your design and make up your own (triangles centered horizontally and vertically). There may be an easier way, but that's how I do it. It works every time, and I've done a LOT of vinyl.

When I do really large things I also create my own registration marks. Then with some small pencil marks, it is so easy to get things level and straight. As far as transfer tape goes, I usually will use a couple of pieces overlapping them slightly. Transfer tape sticks to itself really well, so it works well to create a large piece using strips. (I hope that makes sense) I buy 14", 6" and 3" transfer tape and someone gifted me a roll of 20" but the 20" is the clear and I don't care for it as much so I tend to use the 14" and use a couple (or more) pieces.
