Sixteenth Birthday card for my baby!

Sixteenth Birthday card for my baby!

Postby Elizabeth » August 26th, 2013, 1:18 pm

Hi, I made this quick card last night for DD's sixteenth birthday today. I used my Cougar to cut the circle, and print and cut the text. It is a simple card, but I think she will love all the bright colors and the embossing. (I heat embossed the circle to make it a bit more special).

I can't believe my baby is 16!

Love it... I think sometimes the quick ones are the best... don't have time to put WAY to much thinking into it and end up over thinking (which is my problem most of the time). This one is colorful and fun, just what a birthday card should be.

Thanks everyone! It was a fun card to do. Yes, Diane, it is nice sometimes to just "do it" without agonizing over every choice. When I need to do that, I often pick a nice patterned paper, and pull the rest of my colors from that. (of course for this card, I did the opposite, and pulled my solid colors first, and then searched for a pattern to match, lol)

What a perfect card!!! And, yes, sadly the time flies when our babies are growing up. It always saddened me that I only had one child and could only go through things once. They are so special.

Thanks, Retta and Glynnis. I will pass along your birthday wishes when my busy girl gets home from field hockey practice.

I, too, love the color combinations. It is beautiful card. What do you mean you "heat embossed" the circle?

I used my Ranger "Emboss it Dabber" to apply embossing ink, coated it with clear embossing powder and melted it with my heat gun. It gives pieces a shiny finish. (as opposed to the dry or pressure embossing on the upper part of the card, which has texture, but no shine)

Beautiful card Elizabeth. I noticed you said DD's 16th - so another driver! Good luck. Mine are 17 and 16 so I know all about the driving! One of yours just graduated and now the other driving!
