My Halloween Card to go with the Manor

My Halloween Card to go with the Manor

Postby kim » August 20th, 2013, 3:20 pm

Okay, just had to share this even though it isn't quite done yet, but since it's only the inside that needs to be finished, I am sharing.
I got the idea for this card from a YouTube video on SVGCuts blog on a Halloween Mini Album. But I decided to make it into just a card. You "open" the gate to see the scene. I will be giving these to each of my nieces/nephews' families that have little kids along with the Manor filled with candy.

I did make the gate out of double cardstock to give it a little more heft since the single piece might have torn with the "chain lock". Also gave the fence a little rock candy distress crackle to age it some more.

Thanks everyone! The hardest part was the boards on the house. To make it look like it is falling apart, I had to place each board by hand and try not to make it neat. LOL.

The detail blade is great for cutting out the intricut stuff. I was not getting fantastic cuts at first when cutting the gate but changed my blade (and lost my spring AGAIN) and VIOLA! The cuts were fantastic. My old detail blade was one I have had since my Cougar and was about two years old. I have chipped a couple when I first started cutting, but this blade lasted forever and I guess it was time to retire it to the trash bin. Sticky mat also helps. I RENUed my mat and changed my blades and the gates were so easy to cut.
