Maybe there's an easier way, but I feed my vinyl from the back (lifting up the pinch wheels and lining the vinyl up at the little cm marks all along the front). It naturally curls and follows the curve of the cutter.
VERY cool projects!!! I'm slightly intimidated. ;)

So......I've joined you all in cutting vinyl without using the tables or a mat....OMG.....OMG...OMG....it was SO MUCH EASIER.......I'm in heaven now with cutting vinyl....I'm making a few Christmas gifts making logos for my son and my "other son" (which is my youngest son's best friend) of the UK logo for them to put on their vehicles....I was stunned how beautifully the machine glided across the vinyl cutting it........WOWZERS!!!

I will never go back to using a mat with vinyl. Long gone are the days of measuring and brayering (if that's even a word). Fondly, Tami

Just wondering as I couldn't really find it in looking/searching through posts..How does one cut without a mat? I know obviously you physically don't use the mat, but can you create your project in SCAL and cut without a mat? If not, what kind/type/name of program do you use? TIA for any info.

I use scal. You change your mat size using the custom mat option. Then you just load your vinyl like you would a mat. I use the same settings as I do with a mat.

Could someone help me with vinyl lettering. I'm a newbie and I'm trying to learn what I can but I'm not sure of what I'm doing with everything because it's gets overwhelming reading all the forums. I have the 15" silver bullet and rolled vinyl. When I read you don't need a mat for this but no one explains in detail how to set it up like do you use all four wheels on it? Also what is the V speed and F pressure numbers to start off on and the click blade #. Where do you put the roll of vinyl that is in the back of the machine. Does it just lye on the table. I'm sorry for asking all these questions but I don't seem to find the rite answers on the forum. Thanks for any help u can give me

Sure Cuts A Lot (SCAL) http://craftedge.com/
ECAL will not work with the Silver Bullet, so make sure you don't use that one.

You don't have to use all 4 wheels, but you do need at least 2 and make sure they are over their corresponding grit shafts. Feed the vinyl in from the back of the machine, keeping the roll behind (on the table or floor) and give it a good bit of slack, so that the wheels on the machine don't have to pull so hard, it could cause the vinyl to pull sideways. You will also need to make sure it's feeding straight, so you won't cut off of the side farther back on the roll. Do not use a mat with this process. You will do a "kiss cut" meaning you will set your machine to cut through the vinyl but not the carrier sheet that is used for backing. Use the V you are comfortable with and probably a force in the low teens to even lower, You will just need to to some test cuts to figure out the right V/F combo for you and your machine. Hope this helps.

You should have received a welcome letter when you purchased your machine with a software code for SCAL to use with your machine. Hope that helps.

Oh my goodness! Your vinyl work is just gorgeous! Wow, I am so impressed. I love the star registration marks too - what a great idea, no wonder your client wanted to keep the stars!
