Flower Card - I made

Penny and Ann - thank you. I just keep thinking what else can I make. I'm so tired tonight, and I would have to get my cat out - I keep it boxed as I take it with me. So not tonight, but I just may be getting excited about cards. Thanks.

This is the best thing I love about this place and all the wonderful people on here. While you say that we would laugh at you like your friends do, we wouldn't, we would encourage and praise your work. Where I started when I found the MTC forum to where I am today (a few years later) is incredible and I have a long long long way to go but with the family here I can learn whatever I want to - some will be fun and will do again and again, others I am sure will be "one time was enough for me" lol but at least I will learn and laugh along the way. Your card is gorgeous and gives me some ideas for a card I need to make!

Thanks to you Sherri and Kathy. You are right - it is fun to learn new thing. I guess I should tell you why they laugh - they really are wonderful friends. I've done artwork for years. When I wasn't painting as much and my son had died of SIDS, I wanted to scrapbook. I never want it to be just like everyone else and at that time it was Creative Memories. I'm the gal that sat at the table for the first time and did my own thing. No Triangles and squares for me. Then I started scrapping and it got big. I combined it with my art. Then altered books and teaching all these things. It was wonderful. I think I like to teach as much as scrap. then . . .(here we go.)

I found out I couldn't stamp well. Something always displeased me. It was like being forced to color in the lines. I tried. I tried scrapping cards and I failed miserably. Not happy at all. Not my style or the look I wanted. It was too funny, I could scrap any size minibook all the way to the largest album, but I couldn't figure out a card. How sad can that get. I do think for certain looks you have to preplan. I don't have to on albums and it comes out. I think I have a brain block. So when a card does come out, I'm as surprised as anyone. My friends laugh, because they know I could do it and somehow I keep blocking myself. I have a real hard time CASEing anything as I am so independent.

Now you know the rest of the story. Thanks all. This is a great place to be and I hope to be able to share more as soon as I can.

Beautiful job Retta. I think you need to let your brain think outside the box more for cards too! There is no right or wrong even on a card - just a smaller canvas to work your particular magic on. You did a great job on this one and don't see anything childish about it.
