Large box with secret drawer

Large box with secret drawer

Postby Esther » December 29th, 2017, 10:59 pm

I've wanted to make a box for some time, so I downloaded a set of plans from "Paper Phenomenon". YIKES, the plans were 128 pages long, so I was not sure I would be able to tackle this. But I did and I'm delighted with the results.

The entire box is constructed from cardboard and paper. Metal hardware and brads have been used. It has two drawers, one of which is housed in a secret section that is secured by magnets. The hinged top lifts up to reveal a large storage space on top.

It's a fairly large utility box perfect for storing jewelry or craft supplies.

All parts were cut using chipboard on my SB15.

Wow Esther - that is fabulous. What patience that must have taken. I think the 128 pages would have scared me away!! You are a rockstar for tackling that so successfully. It is beautiful. I love it!

Esther, this is so beautiful. What weight chipboard did you use?

So sorry for the late reply Michelle, but I just saw your question.

I'm guessing it's heavy weight chipboard because the finished piece is rather sturdy. Unfortunately it's an unbranded variety available at the local stationary store so it does not specify the weight.

When measured with calipers, it's a shade over 1mm thick.

Hope this helps!
