So if you attach it with a USB hub - powered one - then it is not as likely to break if you drop your laptop or anything.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....GOTCHA!!!! Thanks for the explaination......doesn't bother me how I'll get it.....just so I can keep usin' it!!! ;)

rit is because you have a picture? Did you make the outline of the thing you want to cut and after you printed it, take the picture out and just do the cut in signcut?

I have no idea what you mean by outline.LOL

I took the svg I exported from MTC and tried importing it into sign cut. NOthing shows up. So I took it from MTC , opened in Inkscape, resaved as svg, and then tried. Nothing again.

I know it's me but I got frustrated and quit.LOL

You need to remove the image that you will be printing before you send it to Signcut. If you want to send the file to me I will take a look at it for you

Dawn explained what I meant better. But what you are telling me is you need the cutline in the first place. Sorry Iw as at work and couldn't answer for a while?

You've got it - just send the cutline - hide the image or SignCut won't know what to do with it - as Dawn told me! You should have no problem if you just do that!

Good luck!

So, Dawn, do I need a dongle for Signcut? And do I automatically get one for buying the software with the Cougar?
I'm sort-of confused.

The sign cut purchased with the cutter does not require a dongle.

Lol Retta!!!!! I should think you'd damage a bit more than the dongle if you dropped your laptop ROFL!! Heaven forbid...

I used to use MTC with my Cricut and loved it. I started with SCAL but it became a bit of a pain because it crashed a lot (Sure Crashes A Lot??) and I preferred the slicker interface you got with MTC, but since I got Sheba, my Cougar, I've been using Inkscape and Signcut, and I have to say it's a brilliant combination. I am very thrilled that I am learning Inkscape because the program terrified me to start with, and I couldn't understand it... With help from other Black Cat users, though, I'm getting there! Carolyn in Australia's forum Inkscape Cutting Design is also totally brilliant, with great tutorials etc. and lots of advice.

Signcut can be a bit temperamental, but when it's working, it's so easy! I love how you can make different bits of your drawing different colours in Inkscape, and then in Signcut you can select each colour in turn, so you can choose which bits you cut first. It's so much easier than all that messing about with layers that I got so fed up with in MTC.
