Something weird is going on!!! HELP!

Something weird is going on!!! HELP!

Postby Retta » August 31st, 2012, 5:11 pm

Okay, I've been trying to calibrate my cougar using signcut. Last night I downloaded the send from inkscape to SCAL and then signcut wouldn't work. I did not have the new SCAL 3 downloaded. I took the plugins off. Reloaded signcut, reloaded Inkscape - as that was acting up too. turned off computer and restarted. Inkscape now working, and it appeared that signcut was.

I have Windows Vista sp2 - Signcut 1.07 Inkscape .47 - I have the new registration files. I have the Louise's instructions and I am at my wits end. I set the page in landscape on the mat and load end to end on the machine. I put the carriage toward me on the right side of the machine to the right of and toward me of the registration mark. Then - when I line that up (and my laser isn't as bright as it was and only on sometimes!!) I get it lined up and push the- registration button. Then hit next. It runs into the right side of the machine instead of going to the left to line up with the second registration mark. This is after setting the the settings just like Loupy did.

Help this is going to really mess up my day as I am trying to get some things done. Help.

I was having an issue and under the settings in signcut the box for enable tiles panel was checked, uncheck that. Also make sure that signcut is in mm not in or something else, hope this helps if not I can look at my settings and give you more info if needed, I just went through this whole PNC process because I upgraded Signcut and it worked horrible and then reverted back to the original version that came with Black cat and now works again!

Well it stopped hitting the wall. So I didn't have the MM set right. I changed the settings after I set to MM too. So okay. Now I got to cut. But the crazy thing is - the box it is cutting is outside the registration marks and much bigger than the one that I have on the print and in the file. I'm losing it. I know!!!

Thanks!

Do you have the registration mark set to 10 and tile box unchecked? Also go to cutout do you have weeding box checked?

No you are not losing it. I had the same problem and I am trying to remember what happened. Dawn had to help me with it - darn it's been a while. I think it was something that had changed in the software of Signcut.

Since I can't remember (and will keep thinking...) lets start with the cutter settings. Do yours look like this??

The only thing that was different -
keyspan - which would be the same as what you are using with my keyspan chord

and the blade offset. So chaged to read what yours said

Okay - still is not working - cutting outside the registration marks. Not even close to size of boxes. I'm so upset. But it does cut almost the same place all the time! Help please!

Maybe Dawn will pop in and remember what caused my problem It was cutting the same way and I cannot remember the fix as it was awhile ago.

It was something I am doing wrong - just cannot remember what!!

Thanks - I uninstalled and reinstalled signcut. It is still cutting outside the registration marks. Hope she can help. I only have one printed sheet left right now! :(

Hang on - I will email her and see if she can remember. I know it was slightly off and that was because i had an old offbrand mat in - shame on me, but the larger cutting is SO familiar and it was some little thing....... darn it all. Let me see if she is up! (we probably have to wait a couple more hours....)

No worries Gigi - mine is on perscription medication and I can't remember like I use too. That is my story and I'm sticking to it!

Morning Retta

Just waking up here in London, reading through this have you read this page

http://www.thymemachines.com/Index.php?showtopic=2868 not sure if you are a member of the UK forum - these are Louises new fantastic notes /hints and tips on manual calibration which may help - it really is very clear and may help

She points out that the rectangle needs to be inside the boundary of the registration marks and not just inside the cross hairs to be really accurate
NewRegistrationFile.svg
This is her file with a white spot in the centre of the cross hairs which is much easier to spot when lining up the laser

Hope it helps

Actually was using all of that. The thing is it is not cutting inside the registration marks at all. But through and around the outside of them where the box isn't.

Thanks for trying!
