cancel a cut?

I know when something goes wrong i push pause. But what do i do if i want to cancel the cut after that? right now when i push pause again, it will continue. I don't want that, so i just turn off my machine...but im not sure if its machine healthy. i am using 13inch cougar w/ signcut.

It is fine to cancel the cut on the Cougar that way.
Alternatively most of the Cougars have a reset button at the back on the right hand side, take a look in the quick start manual for details
