Help - Settings Changed.

Postby Retta » April 7th, 2012, 12:39 pm

Okay - having fun here. I had some settings change by who knows what on my signcut. I reset the settings. Went in and made sure that the settings I knew about were right and finally got my inkscape to send to signcut. All good except -

It is cutting a box around my design that I did not put there.

It is not returning to the beginning so I can do the next cut.

Help please.

Oh Oh OH.. I know the answer to this one... LOL

Retta, when you hit the cut button... make sure that the USE WEEDING FRAME is UNticked... I had that happen to me awhile back and couldn't figure out what happened... but now I always remember to check that.. and do a preview before I cut to make sure I'm not going to get anything unwanted.

As for the not returning to the start... I'm not sure on that, but check that you don't have it set to advance to cut off vinyl. That would be under the advanced settings in the CUT window.

Angel - this checked box is in the advanced tab. The only one checked on the first one is to use software settings for speed and such.

So the box for use weeding frame is Unticked, and you are still getting the box around your image??

On mine it is on the window that pops up after you hit the cut button... about half way down...

See where is says Use weeding frame??? You need to untick that.. that is what is putting the box around your cut...right above where it says Use Software force and speed

I would untick the stack copies, and cut equal tiles first.. that may be why it does not return to the beginning... I have those unticked on mine and don't have that problem.

Your weeding frame is ticked. Diane is correct about the other ones too.

You may want to untick the Use Software for cutting force.. I always set my force and speed on the machine, not through the software...

Actually - I like setting it in the software, but where is the one you uncheck?

You are welcome... I know it took me forever to find that the first time I had it happen... but once I finally figured it out.. I NEVER forgot it... LOL.

As to the "use Software to set parameters", I thought I saw Dawn mention that it was better to use the machine, but I could be wrong. And if that is what works for you, then keep doing it... there is always more than one way to skin a cat. :D

So glad everything is back to normal for you... enjoy your lunch, and I can't wait to see what you are cutting. I think I'm going to go try cutting my creation that I posted on another thread to see how it cuts... will post pictures of it when I'm done. (I was just thinking it may be perfect to cut in vinyl to put on something as a frame... may have to give that a try).

I think those are great ideas!

Here is what I cut. Bad picture trying to hold camera and what I have has me shaking so bad.
Sorry.

WOW Retta.. that is tiny... great job!!!

I did get mine cut, but all my inside pieces didn't cut off cleanly... may have to up my force a bit and try again. I'm cutting it out of the GPcardstock and plan on using the Distress Inks on it to give it some color... will see how it turns out when I'm done.

Angel - if you break it apart again and set those inside spaces as a different color to cut first, then cut the outside, it will cut much better.
