Do I use landscape?

Do I use landscape?

Postby kate3 » September 18th, 2011, 10:55 pm

If I am making a vinyl name to go on a speed boat in Inkscape and cutting in Signcut which way around does it go. My machine is 13inches but the sign is 24 inches long. Do I change it to landscape to cut it all at once? Where do I change it if I have to. Thank you.

You can make your mat to the size you need in Inkscape and it will be Landscape. If you have it in portrait you can rotate in Sighncut. Hope it helps.

Yes a big help, thank you Barbara. I made the sign already in Inkscape and it is good to know I can change it in Signcut. I had a feeling I had to but got confused some where between MTC and Signcut. I want to cut it all in one length and they want it cut 4 times. I have the vinyl on a roll and I was hoping to cut 2 at a time side by side. Why do I say yes to these things?

Help please? I have to have this finished in 24 hours and I still can't work out in Inkscape or Signcut how to turn around the writing for the words. I flipped them 90 degrees in Inkscape but they still cut across the machine which is too short instead of long ways in Signcut.
I need someone to say you click this or this. I need more than yes you can do it please? Thank you!

If you want to rotate something in Signcut there is a button on the bottom toolbar. It is the number 90 with a double headed arrow partly around it. Click on that

I get super confused with this Kate even after 3 years. I hope this helps. When my project is in sign cut this is how I know which way it will cut then I adjust it. IF you look at it face on imagine from the top to the bottom the top will rotate to the left for cutting so if you have an up arrow when it cuts in the machine it will face left cutting. Goodness I hope that makes sense. In fact I have a note taped to my monitor that shows it. I still get confused though. I have a hard time with it. I think it is how my brain thinks.

For BC Studio - do a cutting/rotate icon of you in a photo sticking your left ear to your left shoulder!

It will be unique!

OK, I tried the 90 degree thing in Signcut at the bottom with the arrow. I have looked at the preview and it is not too wide once turned. Now when I press cut the blade goes all the way to the other side with the laser on and stops with pause in the window. I have to turn it off to get it back to the right side and get it off pause. I have done 6 factory resets but it is still shooting right across and stopping in pause. I don't understand it was cutting when it was round the wrong way but now I have turned it to fit it is doing this. Help please? Hang on I think I found the problem. It is more than 24 inches long now.

I just made it a shorter length and it works but pressing the 90 degrees with the arrows at the bottom still leaves it the same way cutting across. Instead of long ways. Please Help Me???

It is OK. What Suzan said actually got through to me. I didn't turn it at all and it worked length ways.
Got done with a couple of hours to spare. Now I need a strong drink and long rest. Do you think water is strong enough?
Thank you ladies.

Only if you mix it with something, tea, lemons, koolaid, vodka, scotch, whiskey. LOL

Lol, Suzan, I found a little bottle of low calorie, low alcohol bubbly in my vegetable crisper in the fridge. Still wondering who put it in there but it is gone now. I don't drink alcohol but it was very nice and very needed.
I finished all of the signs for the speed boat. Then I stayed up until 3.00AM making a floating picture frame with vinyl for them to take home today. They loved it but I was in agony. I had been sitting on my legs on the floor with my computer and cutter for hours. I wondered why my legs still hurt so much today, I couldn't feel them at 3.00AM when I was done. I get so into a project I don't even feel the pain until I am finished. They are just taking off in a plane so I sent a text to please take a picture of what I made because I forgot.
