images to print and cut in mtc

What types of images work best in order to print and cut in mtc. For example, I can see in Tyler's video on print and cut that he has a great realistic looking image of a lion that he is cutting out. I was wondering how he got this into mtc. I have only been able to basically bring in coloring book pages that I have then traced and colored in. Is there a tutorial on this somewhere.

you need to import texture honey if you are bringing in a colored image. I think I have a video on this. Let me check and I'll be right back.

oh, and it shouldn't matter on the image honey. I bring in images from everywhere to print and cut.

The image doesn't matter - what matters is the cut path when you are done. I have taken some realistic cheetahs from off the web, taken them into photoshop, deleted the background and saved them as png. They work great for PnC! You just want a white background behind it so you get a good trace.

thanks Christy I will watch for the video. I tried doing an import texture but it didn't seem to work. I must be missing a step or something. Hopefully you can get me in the right direction.

There is the video. I cut out in places and I apologize but my internet is SLOW tonight

You can get rid of the background in inkscape possibly but it's going to depend on the image more than likely.

I have directions on how to turn an image into a png and make the background transparent if that will help if - lmk if you would like it. It is using Photoshop Elements. Hoping maybe you have the Elements program.

There are a TON of inkscape tutorials on Dawn's UK forum. Here is the link if you are not registered there yet.

Here are tutorials by Jack that are numbered and progressive:

There are also tuts from three others - Dawn included. Hope this helps.

I am just now getting around to trying print and cut and cannot figure out how to get my colored image onto my mat. I have no problem with the pixel trace as far as getting the basic shape but I do not see anywhere to select "import texture" in order to bring in my image. I am using MTC 3.3.0 - and the pixel trace pop-up window looks totally different than the one shown in the video.

Can someone please enlighten me? I'm trying to make supporter t-shirts for my daughter's first half-marathon and I'm not having much luck with this Print and Cut process.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!
