Bryan,
I think the only version I have is a beta version. I have never used any updates. So does this work with what I have? Do I have to do all updates? Ho do I know if what I have is beta? I don't even know what that means. Clueless!

Kate, If you open the program and go to the About... it will tell you what version you have.

You do not have to have updated each version to use the new one. HOWEVER, if you will be using MTC with a Cricut machine, you will need to have the version of MTC that uses the plugins, or if your version was BEFORE he added the plugins, then if you update the program you won't be able to continue to use the Cricut with MTC.

Actually, you can still use the Cricut with the newer version, as long as you have the plugin from the older version and move it over into the new program.(not sure which .dll file it is, but its one of those).

aulich,

Angel was perfectly right in her answer.

Only version 3.2.x had the plug in for the bug machines... previous versions of MTC had the communication written in to the program itself, not separated out. Those earlier versions cannot be updated or the ability to use with the bug will be lost. It is possible to have a second, newer version of MTC installed (be sure to rename it with the version number so it won't overwrite the old version) so you can open the newer files, design, etc... then export to SVG and open in the version that is compatible with the bug.

Thank you Angel and Iggylover. Do I have to do the 4.0.2 and 4.0.3 updates first or does the 4.0.4 have them all in it? I have downloaded the 4.0.4 but I haven't installed it yet.

It's actually up to 4.0.6 now: http://forum.make-the-cut.com/discussio ... ugin-1.0.3

No, you don't need to install the other steps to get to the newest, just download the newest and install.
