HELP! Lynx not working right

HELP! Lynx not working right

Postby kkdesigns » September 24th, 2014, 8:58 pm

We have all of a sudden started having problems with our lynx and don't know why. It is bunching up the vinyl when we don't use a mat, and not cutting right even when using a mat. The vinyl ends up looking like an accordian and is not salvageable. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, what was the solution?

Thanks

Can you explain a little more? What do you mean by not cutting right? If you can supply more details it might help us understand better.

Are your pinch wheels sticking? Do they have a build up of adhesive on them? At what point does it bunch up? Is it a file you have cut before?

Thank you, Gigi! Yes, I will try to explain better. The machine starts cutting, and then at some point (sometimes early in the cut and sometimes later), the vinyl starts "bunching" up, usually at the middle. We have all 3 pinch rollers down over the appropriate rollers. The rollers did have some residue on them, but I think we got it all cleaned off, although it wasn't easy. We used "Oops", and whatever cloth, paper towel, etc. we used, kept having fibers stick to the metal rollers. How do you clean your rollers?

Oh, and it is any file we try to cut, including many that we have cut before.

Are you using a mat?

When the problem occurs, we are not using a mat. When we use a mat, it cuts better, but there are times when the things we need to cut are longer than our mat allows for.

Have you tried just putting the outside pinch wheels down - not all three?

Yes, we have, but it still crumpled the vinyl.

Is the file being cut something you have done before - and prior to this time - it worked right (i.e., are you working with a known good file)???

If not, if this is a new file, have you checked the file, and the placement of the design within whatever software you are using for the cutter? BTW which software are you using? Is it possible you are double profiling the cutter (i.e., you have the settings going off both in the software and on the cutter itself?)
