Dead Spots in Vinyl Cuts

Dead Spots in Vinyl Cuts

Postby Krafthead » May 28th, 2013, 11:17 pm

I hope I can explain this clearly. I have parts of images that score instead of cut. For example, if I am cutting a 24" piece of vinyl (I mainly cut vinyl), the vinyl closes to me cuts well. However, the cuts from 1-5" from the feed some parts cut while other parts score. It does not matter if I am cutting from MTC or SCAL or with or without a mat. If I have smaller cuts it I know where to put my vinyl so the entire image cuts. The issue is when I am cutting longer than 12"...any thoughts? I have not tried cutting paper to see if this is a vinyl thing as I cut vinyl 95% of the time. Thanks for any responses!

are you cutting with or with out a mat and are you using the tables or not. it helps to narrow down some of the issues by letting us know theses two items also.
Helping where I can when I can.

Rachelle, it does not matter if I use a mat or not and no I do not use tables. When I first received the machine it cut just fine with or without a mat. Back then my problem was not knowing where the image was going to cut. Sometimes it would cut off the material and on to the mat no matter where I positioned the blade. Once I got that under control, this is now happening.

@Thyme, I am not sure what height the blade is set. I am still learning the machine. I have not adjusted anything. It was cutting fine before so I am not sure what happened. I made sure the blade was secure and debris free.

I will try that! I had no clue I could set the height. Still learning :D Thank you so much for your help and I will report if that took care of the problem.

Here is the section you might want to review in the Learning Center.
