My Laser Light stopped working

My Laser Light stopped working

Postby lindalou » April 29th, 2013, 8:14 pm

Has anyone had their laser light quit worrying. It has been a little shaky lately (kind of fading in and out) when
I was using it. Do you think I just need a new laser light?

I hope really quick. I'm in the middle of doing some graduation boxes that have to go into the mail within
the next two days.
Why do things stop working when you are desparate?

Can you use knife point cutting in the mean time?

Kathy, you read my mind! I was thinking knife point too.....I just started using that instead of WYSIWYG and I am really liking it.

I have actually never used knife point cutting, but I hear others raving about it. I would think it would be worth a try.

Why do you like it so well Kim?

I am not Kim, but knife point or origin cutting is so much easier to use, imho. You don't have to worry about where your design is on the mat - just open whatever layer you want to cut, put the blade at the bottom right corner of your paper and you know exactly where it will cut I think I waste a lot less paper with this method and also can easily utilize little pieces if I know they are the right size.

The only time I use the laser is if I'm doing Print and Cut... otherwise I use Knife Point. The reason I like it so well, I can put the tip of the blade right where I want it, and know just how much area my cut is going to be in. It did take me awhile before I got used to it, but now I won't do it any other way.

My laser light quit working and I had to replace it. No big deal really. Do you have score lines on your boxes? Cutting the scores lines as dashes as you cut the rest of the box will work with knife point. Putting them on separate layers and using reduced pressure to actually score requires WYSIWYG and you kneed the laser to set the origin as well as when doing PnC.
