Rhinestone question (problem solved)

Rhinestone question (problem solved)

Postby allandra42 » February 18th, 2013, 9:26 pm

Sherri, or thyme, or Tyler I have a question. I have been doing a lot of rhinestones and my cougar is cutting them alot smaller than they are supposed to be. When I cut the same file with the silver bullet it cuts the correct size but when I cut it with the cougar it is way too small for the rhinestones to fit in the sticky flock. I was talking to Mary Kobe on the phone and she had me do a reset but I havent gotten to try it again. MY cougar used to cut them the right size so I know it is a setting somewhere. It also doesnt matter what program I use it cuts them too small with all programs. I was just wondering if you had any idea what would cause that? :banghead: Any help is appreciated. Lesa

Sounds like you might have accidentally altered the Set Per figures.
Mary is right to suggest a factory reset

The reset to factory settings should have fixed it.

One of the settings tells your machine what size a certain measurement is. If the number gets changed, then all the measurements after that are off.

Sorry Lesa, I just got to this but Rachell might be good one to ask if that does not work. She did some designs for me in Inkscape and converted and this happened but I don't remember the fix. Remember..I HATE software...LOL

OK I need some help my Cougar still wont cut the stones the correct size. I keep wasting sticky flock and this is g4etting frustrating. If I cut it from the silver bullet it cuts fine. But since I have to haul my laptop in here that is not real convenient and I would like to be able to do it ion my cougar. Thyme do you have any ideas? Or rachellann. I did a factory reset again and the stones still are very small. I cut a 13 SS and a 10 will not brush into it.

Which software are you using because if using MTC then scal I had to change the size of the holes. There are a couple of things to check when opening the files break it and click on one of the circles read the size make a note and check it to the next time you open it to cut with the other cutter. Are you using the same type mat and blade in both machines?
Helping where I can when I can.

What happens if you cut a square, a larger one, say 5". What does it measure when it is cut?

rachelllann and Thyme When I purchase the files they are eps, and i import them to winpcsign 2012. Then cut it doesnt matter what software I use MTC or winpcsign with the cougar they still cut too small. I am going to try to take a picture of the file I cut with both machines. I used to be able to do this with the cougar I have bought a lot of rhinestone files and cut them with the cougar. I tried the same file with make the cut after winpcsign wouldnt work and then I sent it to mary to cut on her cougar and hers cut and fit fine. Mine cut small with both softwares. I am using the same mat with both.

Very odd.
So if you break the design apart in the software you are using to cut with, what size is the circle in the software and what size is it cutting?

It is the same size on both machines the ladies on the winpcsign forum had me check that it is .138 on both machines with both softwares but then the cougar cuts it much smaller and it seems like the circles are all different on the cougar. Some are bigger than others I tried taking a pic of the file but with my camera zooming in you really cant tell very well. The bottom file is the silver bullet

Thing is I am very puzzled by this. If the square is cutting at basically the correct size then the machine is cutting correctly.
Is it only small objects that cut at the wrong size or just small circles or circles of any size?

just a suggestion until you get this resolved...cut the file on paper instead of your sticky flock. that way you won't waste any of the stuff.....it's too expensive to waste!

I wonder if it is a difference in the way the Cougar handles sticky flock, vs the SB? Cutting the files on paper is a great idea.

Have you tried switching out your blades, to see if the Cougar blade might need to be replaced?

(I don't do rhinestones, and have never cut sticky flock, so I'm just grasping at straws.)
