cutter not communicating with software

Here is my error. Can someone please help me? "Black Cat machine not found. Please make sure it is connected and turned on." It is connected & turned on.

Are you using SCAL? Which version are you using? Have you double checked the com port to be sure you have the right one selected? Have you looked for solutions in the Learning Center?? Just throwing it all out there in one post!!

SCal3, did all the port and driver configuration stuff, followed all learning center videos - I put auto on the com port, but tried all my choices.

is the machine online? make sure that all the connections are in snugly as possible. another thing I just thought about have you went to the help tab in Scal 3 and installed the driver there?

What version of SCAL3 are you using????? You may need to update your software....

V.3.029 - everything is as snug as I can get it. I went to the help tab and installed the driver there - I thought that was going to do it because it loaded it. Still nothing.

3.030 is the newest version. I am not sure if that will make a difference or not....

Have you tried a different usb port just to see?? Do you get the error as soon as you go to cut something?

Try rebooting your computer and leaving the cougar attached and on. Also, just for giggles, try another USB cable...sometimes that is an issue.

Just verified with Sherri - the latest version of SCAL 3.030 will correct the problem.

Please upgrade and let us know if that works!!

Also try a factory reset of the cutter

How do I upgrade to the newest version? It says I have the latest version. I have emailed Sherri 3 times with no reply, how are you getting a response from her? I will try re-boot now.

Okay, heard from Sherri. Got v. 3.03. Still nothing. Turned everything off and back on -- nothing. Software still not finding machine.

I only have the usb cable that came with the machine. Do I have to buy a new one?

I am pulling my hair out. I thought I could spend this weekend getting caught up on some orders.......

After downloading v. 3.03, I have methodically gone through every video in the Learning Center to re-trace all of my steps. I also re-installed driver from the help button.

I re-booted and did a re-set.

When I am in Sure Cuts A Lot, I press "Cutter", "Cut With Blackcat". I then have tried "Test Connection", nothing happens. I then have tried "Cut", it says it cannot find my machine.

I am sure I am doing something wrong because everything is in place. I just do not know what it is and it is making me crazy.

All of my connections are as solid as can be.

Did you do an ordinary reset or a factory reset?
What does the port say in Scal?
Go to your device manager and see if the port is shown there. If it is what does it call it?

I did both ordinary (push reset button) and factory (hold down orgin while turning on machine) resets.

Port in SCAL says; COM5 (USB-Serial CH341A)

Port in Device Manager says; COM5 (USB-Serial CH341A)

1artgirl.....Do you by chance happen to have MTC installed on your computer???? IF so...can you try to cut a file within that program?????

It's Make The Cut.....you can download a trial version...it will cut a line through you design......but I'm just wondering if you can get it to cut that way...... http://www.make-the-cut.com/Download.aspx

I downloaded MTC and cannot figure out how to set up my cutter. I really did not want to have to spend more money on software. I should be able to use what I have purchased from Sherri.
