Power Cord Loose?

Power Cord Loose?

Postby Krafthead » August 4th, 2012, 4:07 pm

Hi, it is normal for the power cord to be so loose? If I accidently hit the cord, it falls out or moves enough for the machine to turn off :banghead: please help...does it suppose to snap into place and I just don't have it in far enough? Thanks much!

Kenya, I ended up using a cord I purchased myself with the machine. The one that came with it just didn't seem to fit very well. I did keep the cord I purchased and sent you the cord that came with it. So you may want to buy a different cord and see if that helps. I didn't have any problems with the cord I purchased staying in the machine.

You might try taping around the plug so it will fit firmer.

Suzan, if she is talking about the power cord, I don't think taping it will work. It is almost as if it doesn't want to go all the way into the plug, so tape won't really hold it any better. I want to say it is the cords from China, but I don't remember reading about any one else having this problem.. so it could have just been my machine. I fixed it by buying a new cord and didn't have any problems after that.

Suzan, it was me with a loose power cord on my 15" Cougar. I used teflon plumbers tape to tighten it up.

Hi Krafthead. I too had the loose cord issue on my 13 in. If you even touched it slightly the machine would stop cutting. I finally went out and bought a new cord and what a big different. Much, much better fit. I don't have to worry about hitting the plug anymore. I don't what take me so long to buy one but it was so worth it. I ruined quite a few cuts by having it stop cutting in the middle because of that cor. I recommend buying a new one and try it out. You can always return the new cord if its the same but I am pretty sure it is just the way the cord that came with it was made. I had the problem from day one of getting the machine. Good luck. This cutter is great once you getting going so its worth the price of a cord. Good luck.

Hi Krafthead. It is a printer cord that you need, you can get one at Walmart or Staples. Another option is to purchase a keyspan adaptor to use the serial port rather than the usb port on your Cougar. I got one at Amazon.com.

It has worked very well for me.

Elizabeth, she is talking about the POWER cord not the cable from the computer to the machine.

But yes ,you should be able to purchase the cord at a local store. It is just a standard power cord.
You don't need the keyspan adapter unless you have problems with the communication from your computer to the machine.

You can take some electrical tape (the black one) and wrap it around the cord head, but not the prongs, and make it snug that way
