You can take a look at the sensors, but very careful and gentle when you do so.
Open the lid and you will see the mini circuit board on top.
Undo the two screws that are in front of the words Knife and LED.
Lift the board up and turn over.
You will now see two small blocks of black plastic.
Are these parallel with the edge of the board?
If they are not then gently twist them back into the correct position.
These blocks contain two very fine wires which are the sensors to stop the carriage hitting the sides, if they are out of position then they don't work.[/quot

This has been driving me nuts for days!!!!!! I would reset and no matter what, it would give that horrible scream!!!! I did exactly as you said, and yeppers, the right block was kilted, a lot!!!! I noticed right away when I turned my machine on it was soooooo much quieter!!!!!
