I have had this problem since the new download but finally figured out to set the laser at the very far side (where it is naturally) and then I have to set it off the grid, at the bottom of the mat(about 1/4 in.) for it not to go off the top. Doesn't seem to matter if it is in Origin Point or WYSIWYG it just isn't lining up. I should take the time to send them an email but have been too busy working and crafting.
So look at where it is cutting and adjust right/left and up/down for your machine.

You shouldnt have to set the origin off the grid. I did a cut last night in SCAL using origin - set it in the bottom front right (facing the machine) and that is where it cut it should show that on the mat when you click it to origin. It moves the image over so you can see where it will be cutting. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but you don't need to use the laser when making a regular cut.

I may not be understanding what you are saying - but if you use origin you dont have to worry about moving it in - for me it is so much easier.

Definitely don't use the laser unless you are doing a Print and Cut. Line up with the blade instead
If you use it for regular cutting then you may burn it out fairly soon and your cuts will not be where you expect them to be.

Okay so you are saying not to use the laser, use origin and set at the bottom right front of the mat. I will give that a try today but I still think there will be a difference because I have always had to set mine a little differently.

Not exactly, do not use the laser. Set your blade as the origin.
Whether you use WYSIWYG or Origin Point cutting, it is the blade you line up with. If you do that then the cutting will be perfectly placed whichever method of cutting you use.
For WYSIWYG place the blade at the bottom right corner of the transparent part of the mat.
For Origin Point cutting place the blade at the bottom right corner of where you want the cut to be on the media.

Got it. But do you realize that you practically have to stand on your head to see where the blade is? Maybe I need to try to get my machine up a little higher.

You do soon get used to estimating the blade tip position from the holder position ... And you don't have to be absolutely exact
