Christmas Card Challenge - October 2012

Christmas Card Challenge - October 2012

Postby LisaH » October 1st, 2012, 7:13 pm

I am challenging anyone and everyone that is a member of this forum to make 2 Christmas cards each week (8 total) - now through October 31st!

Rules:
1 - be a member of this forum (so any member other than Me is eligible!!)
2 - put your photos into this thread and/or your gallery with a link to your gallery post in the thread
3 - they MUST be Christmas / Hanukkah / Kwanza / etc.

Each card will count as 1 entry into a drawing for a gift from me... :D and will be chosen by Random.org on or about November 1st.

I'm hoping this will make me start my card stash earlier than Thanksgiving this year :ROFLMBO: !!
Thanks in advance for participating!!!!!!

And I just finished making my 45 cards this weekend! Can I join the fun by making other things from my Christmas to-do list?

For you Elizabeth, yes...I think 45 cards in a weekend allows you to make other things! LOL but post pics of your cards too...I need inspiration!! I just won't count your cards in the total count for you. ;)

Thanks, Lisa. I actually started them a couple of weeks ago, and worked on them a few hours at a time until they were done.

This may be fun... but I'm not sure I can make 2 a week... LOL usually when I make my Christmas cards, they are all the same. It makes it easier on me and I don't send out that many cards anyway. I do need to get started on them though.. so maybe this will get me going.

I haven't made cards. It is just not my thing. But maybe I will try to do this! In either case - thanks for the challenge.

I always make the same card for everyone. It is easier for me to assemble them all that way. I thought 45 was a lot, but I just volunteered to help my mom design her card this year, and she does 65 of them! And she hand writes a lovely note on each one! She doesn't make the cards, but this year she would like to do a photo montage on an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper. She thought it would be less costly than the photo cards she usually does, but I think the printer ink would be too expensive, so I will print them with my laser printer, and print some labels to make her envelopes look pretty.

2 a week huh?! Well we will see but probably not happening for me! DD's last regular season VB match is tonight and then we start the district tourney, regional tourney and then hopefully a trip to State's by the end of the month. Throw in two football games (JV on Monday night and Varsity on Friday night) and then the rest of my normal "mom" stuff and well, doesn't leave much time for crafting right now! :( Good thing I love my kids and their sports! ;) :D

OK, I have two things to post:

First my Christmas Cards, which I am posting just for fun. As mentioned, I finished them before the challenge. What I like best about these cards is that I didn't purchase any paper for them. I went to my stash and used up papers and scraps from last year's projects. I also rememberd to use my embossing folders!

The next photo is of the project I worked on yesterday. I designed this little box (3x3ish) to hold the cash that I give to my older neices and nephews. Putting the cash in something I spent some time creating makes me feel better about giving money as a gift. (even though I know that they like getting cash.) I love decorating little projects. Again, I used scraps left over from last year.

(I hope to have time to post the file for the boxes on my blog sometime this weekend. Check back later if you want to grab it.)

I am not a card maker. I keep learning, and hopefully will get better. I never make Christmas cards, unless it's for a challenge, LOL. So, don't know if I will get 2 a week made or not, but I did make these two.
