Faux Postage Stamp SWAP

Faux Postage Stamp SWAP

Postby Retta » June 20th, 2012, 7:05 am

Okay we hadn't posted this under challenges and this is going to be really simple. So here you go . . .

I am posting an SVG, SCAL3 and MTCC file for you to download. I have SCAL and MTC but don't use it. Dana is checking the MTC file and I made a SCAL file but didn't check it. Free to download and use - or make your own. The sheet is 8 1/2 x 11 and you will be making Faux Postage and will be assigned a swap partner. So you will be sending it out to just one person. You will post when you send to your partner and your partner will post when received so we can keep track of everything. No additional postage to send with, just send the sheet you make.

Ideas for the swap are stamps, chalks, alcohol inks and embossing, cutter files of course and embellishments of any kind. They should fit in a normal envelope to send though. So cost should be manageable.

Faux postage can be really fun to trade and collect. They can be used for tags, decorations on packages, envelopes and ATC's for those of us that are having fun with them. Encouragement with sentiments on them, or just pictures.

Clear as mud. This would be a time you could try your Print and Cut on your machine too. So many options.

Here is a digital picture of an example:

You have until June 30, 2012 to sign up. And We will send out partners and give you until July 31 get them to your partner. Please mail a bit earlier to get there on time!!! LOL Please PM me with your address and e-mail. Or, send to sumpter5 at embarqmail dot com We would appreciate once this is over, that you took a picture of your faux postage and post here once everyone has theirs. If you don't know how to post here, please let me know or e-mail me the picture and I will post. Thanks!!!

I'm so excited.

Dana - you rock girlfriend and thanks so much for doing that!!!

Yep.. I forgot to group the squares together. It doesn't affect the file, if you hide all the layers but the square later and do a join, you will get one plus sign in the middle of the group. Sorry

Here is just a quick sample of what you can do with the digi stamps we have all collected. I placed the stamp on the top square layer. This would be the print and cut layer. You would cut the scallop layer if you want a scallop. Then do you perforation base layer. Glue down the other two pieces.

This is just one way.

Another way would be to stamp, color, your base perforation layer how ever your want with real time stamps and then just cut the perforation layer. You wouldn't need to cut the square or scallop layer.

Oodles and oodles of ways to do this! Thanks Retta for the fun file!!!

Dana - thanks for the explaination. Now I learned something else new!!!

Your example rocks. You are making this fun for me too!!! I guess the ticket swaps that were going on and a faux postage swap on one of my Oriental Groups, just kind of made me want to try this too!!!

Oh this is going to be fun!!!

Retta - I was thinking (actually my body wouldn't sleep and neither would my mind, lol ) about the postage file and I tried figure another way of making the file using one to two sheets of paper instead of the three sheets and without the perforation marks. I think you get the same look without the extra sheet.

Here I took the base layer and made a scalloped border very tight so that it will cut as one sheet but you can fold and tear to get your individual stamps. Then the second sheet... if you CHOOSE to use it, can be done as a print and cut or you can just decorate the base layer.

I hope this is okay that I messed around with your file. I have attached the file too.

I'm loving the idea AND I found several images where people were using these. Just google "faux postage swap"
